Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge, Kennedy Space Center

Sunday we drove with the family to the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge. We didn’t see any alligators, but we did see roseate spoonbills (kind of like a flamingo but with a funny-looking beak), herons, vultures, and I think flamingoes but they were a little too far away to know for sure (could have been more spoonbills).

Monday the kids and I drove to Kennedy Space Center (KSC) where a full day was not nearly enough time to see all the exhibits. We did see alligators there though! KSC is on the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge, too, so there’s a lot of wildlife in the vicinity which can be seen from the bus tour that’s part of the admission price. There’s a bald-eagle’s nest that’s been there for decades and currently has one eaglet (and its parents).

There's a crow eating from a plate in this bucket/tray. The birds were quite aggressive at the Rocket Garden Cafe.

We haven't seen any (real) manatee, so I guess this statue will have to suffice.
